MIG – Metal Inert Gas (Welding) – metal welding in atmosphere of inert gas
MAG – Metal Active Gas (Welding) – metal welding in atmosphere of active gas
MIG-MAG is a mode of semiautomatic welding with consumable electrode wire in atmosphere of protective gases. At this mode the feeding electrode wire (which is fed mechanically) melts and forms welding joint. At this the protective gas argon is supplied in arc zone; argon jet preserves melted metal against atmosphere air, oxidation and nitriding. After hardening the metal of welding pool forms welding joint.
